West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim has strongly criticised the act of bringing religious flags into the state assembly, indirectly targeting BJP legislators. He stated that such displays undermine the secular fabric of the legislature. "If BJP wants to show religious flags, they should do so in temples, mosques, or gurudwaras—not in the assembly," Hakim remarked.
Addressing reporters, he also brushed off recent remarks made by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, saying he remains unaffected. "I am not bothered by Suvendu's objectionable statements. People can judge for themselves," Hakim said, urging all political parties to uphold the dignity of democratic institutions.
